Apple harvest seasons vary but generally run from September to October in Maryland, with some varieties starting in August.
Apples store well and can be eaten in many different ways: fresh, cooked, frozen, canned and made into many tasty desserts! Pick your own apples from these Maryland apple orchards for lots of family fun and fond memories. Be sure to call before visiting a farm to check pick-up times and availability! Some listed below allow you to pick your own apples while others have fresh apples already picked and other produce for sale.

SHAW ORCHARDS offers apple picking on Saturdays of each week from September to the end of approximately October, depending on supply. We’ll be picking different varieties purely based on the season, so check RipeLine’s news to find out which apple will be on offer. Gala and Golden Delicious will start the season, followed by Cameo, Nittany, Pink Lady, Mutsu and York Imperial. Great picking and a fun wagon trip will combine to make a wonderful keepsake and annual family event. We will continue to offer a full line of fresh apples to the market.

Pick your own apples at Gaver Farm! Pick apples from the farm’s beautifully trellised apple trees, grown in such a way that you can easily pick without using ladders. Available varieties include Blondee, Buckeye, Empire, Cameo, and Fuji (depending on which varieties are ready to harvest at the time of picking). Le Verger is OPEN on Saturdays and Sundays in the fall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
