Thunderstorm risk Wednesday – NBC Boston
If you missed the summer heat, Tuesday is for you. Temperatures rise in the 80s and can even reach 90s in a few places in New England.
With humidity in place, the heat index will peak in the 90s under filtered sun. The fine, high cloudiness you see on Tuesday is actually smoke from the wildfires on the west coast that has moved above you on the jet stream.
While Tuesday will not feature widespread thunderstorms, there will be garden variety storms, of a random nature. Tuesday night, you can also wake up to a thunderous roar or downpours.
Wednesday will be a more active day with more extensive thunderstorms. Southern New England is most likely to see strong to severe afternoon and evening storms with damaging wind gusts and localized flooding the main threats. It is definitely a day to be aware of the weather and seek shelter indoors if a warning is issued for your town or town.
Behind this front, fresh air will settle in for Thursday and you will notice the difference. Expect a nice mix of sun and clouds and low humidity.
We still think Friday will be mostly dry with just a little downpour inland (that won’t ruin the day). The choice of the weekend? Saturday of course.
Another disruption moves on Sunday with clouds, showers and thunderstorms, although the timing is still uncertain. For now, don’t cancel Sunday’s plans, but stay tuned to our latest predictions for updates.
Our active weather pattern continues next week with highs in the 70s to around 80s and several days with a chance of rain.
